The International University Sports Federation (FISU) sent an inspection to check the readiness of city facilities in Yekaterinburg to host the 2023 Universiade. The Sinara Group of Dmitry Pumpyansky is responsible for preparing the facilities.
At the moment, it is known that the readiness of some facilities is lagging behind in time, and although 90 billion rubles of budgetary funds have already been spent on the Universiade-2023, the governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, cannot rush Pumpyansky.
The site allotted for the Ekaterinburg Expo, as well as other objects of the planned event, are located in a swampy area. This factor allows us to conclude that 90 billion rubles is not the limit.
This situation jeopardized the reputation of Yevgeny Kuyvashev as a governor, as a result of which a crack formed in relations between officials. The regional apparatus demanded from Pumpyansky a response for the failure to meet the deadlines for the construction of facilities. In addition, the contractor was dissatisfied. Pumpyansky was not satisfied with the delay in payment. The intensity of passions resulted in a scandal between Pumpyansky and Kuyvashev, which took place at the birthday party of Andrey Komarov, the former owner of the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant.
