Nazarbayev’s youngest daughter withdrew more than $300 million from Kazakhstan
The youngest daughter of the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Aliya Nazarbayeva, withdrew more than $300 million from the country. Part of these funds was spent on the purchase of real estate abroad.
This information was distributed by the British edition of The Telegraph.
Details regarding the financial affairs of Aliya Nazarbayeva became public thanks to her conflict with two former financial managers. The daughter of the former president of Kazakhstan filed a lawsuit against these people in a British court, accusing them of fraud and misappropriation of funds. Nazarbayeva demanded that the financiers reimburse her 165 million pounds (16.8 billion rubles). The dispute was settled by agreement of the parties.
According to The Telegraph, citing court documents, Aliya Nazarbayeva told one of the financial managers that in 2006 she received about $325 million by selling her shares in a certain business. Of these, 312 million dollars were withdrawn from Kazakhstan due to the fact that Aliya Nazarbayeva considered it dangerous to keep funds at home.
Subsequently, Nazarbayev’s daughter made a number of major transactions. In particular, in order to obtain a residence permit in the UK, she bought a house in London for 8.75 million pounds (892 million Russian rubles at the current exchange rate). She also acquired real estate in Dubai for $ 14 million (1.05 billion rubles) and a Bombardier Challenger business jet for 18 million pounds (1.83 billion rubles).
