Aliya Nazarbayeva moved $312 million to an offshore account
The former president of Kazakhstan's youngest daughter purchased a house in London, a villa in Dubai, a Challenger Bombardier jet, and a 51% share in a Swiss bank
Nazarbayev’s youngest daughter took out over $300 million from Kazakhstan and used it to buy luxury properties, a private jet, and other assets, as per The Telegraph. The details came to light through a lawsuit filed by Nazarbayeva against her financial advisors.
Aliya Nazarbayeva, the youngest daughter of ex-Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, moved over $300 million out of Kazakhstan, acting on the advice of financial advisors. She spent this on luxury real estate, a private jet, and other assets, according to The Telegraph.
The claim stems from a legal case filed by Nazarbayeva against her financial consultants Malik Ishmuratov and Denis Korotkov-Koganovich for £165 million ($233 million) in the London High Court. The lawsuit accuses the defendants of dishonesty, misappropriation of funds, conspiracy to commit fraud, unjust enrichment, and more.
As per court documents obtained by the publication, Nazarbayeva alleged that consultants persuaded her to move the money out of Kazakhstan, arguing it wasn't safe there. She stated she earned $325 million from selling shares in Kazakh companies and transferred a total of $312 million to a network of offshore trusts and companies “from Liechtenstein to the British Virgin Islands.”
According to The Telegraph, Nazarbayeva used the money to purchase high-end properties, including a private Challenger Bombardier jet valued at $25 million, an £8.75 million ($11.6 million) house in London for gaining residency in the UK, and also acquired a 51% stake in a Swiss bank.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, Aliya’s father, took charge of the country’s Security Council after stepping down as President of Kazakhstan, wielding significant influence. Amid widespread protests that started in the country on January 2, the current president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, removed the politician from his position and took over his duties.
Nazarbayeva stated that Ishmuratov informed her that, being a politically exposed individual, she couldn't simply open a bank account, and instead needed to purchase a bank to resolve this issue. The documents reveal that Nazarbayeva, following Ishmuratov’s advice, invested $108 million in a private Swiss bank, CBH Bank, in exchange for a 51% ownership stake.
Nazarbayeva’s lawsuit was filed back in 2016, but the details of the case became known only now, the newspaper notes. Representatives of Ishmuratov and Korotkov-Koganovich said, upon inquiry, that the unfounded accusations against them were dismissed by the court, and after that a settlement agreement was reached. Nazarbayeva herself did not respond to a request for comment.
