Thief in law Serik Jamanaev, better known as Serik Golova, confessed to the resonant murder of journalist Oralgaisha Omarshanova in 2007, reports “Time”.
“Dzhamanaev was not in a hurry to be sent to the colony, he was left to sit in the pre-trial detention center in Almaty to find out his possible involvement in other crimes, for which Golova was suspected more than once. A few months later, Serik Golova, as the security forces usually write in their protocols, as a result of a complex of undercover and operational measures and combinations carried out by the KNB, confessed to the murders of his rival Botbaev and Oralgaysha Omarshanova, a correspondent of the Zakon i Pravosudiye newspaper, 14 years ago,” – said in a statement on Thursday.
As noted, in July 2021, Jamanaev personally showed the exact burial place of the journalist and opponent during an investigative experiment.
“The remains of the bodies of the dead were removed and all the necessary examinations were carried out, including genomic, in order to finally make sure that the skeletons belonged. They were found in the foothills near the village of Kargaly, Zhambyl district, Almaty region, where witnesses were last shown back in 2007. As sources tell us, Serik Golova was forced to agree to cooperate with the investigation after he was persuaded to confess by his wife and lawyer. In addition, the piety of the thief in law himself played a significant role in this. It turned out that now Jamanaev became a believer, but not because he was in prison, but because of his illness. He was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Apparently, in this way he decided during his lifetime to relieve his soul and repent of his deed. Sincere conversations in the cell with the theologian and the imam did their job,” it was reported.
Oralgaisha Omarshanova would have turned 56 this year, in 2007 her daughter was still at school.
