The lawyer of Zarema Musaeva, who is under arrest, Natalia Dobronravova, after meeting with her ward, announced that Musaeva was in a serious state of health.
“Severe weakness, it is difficult to walk – she is very ill. However, Zarema is receiving medical assistance. She said that she is treated well in the pre-trial detention center and she is grateful to the employees for their humane attitude, ”the words of the lawyer are recounted in the telegram channel of the Committee against Torture.
Musaeva also said that at the trial in an administrative case (Musaeva was tried allegedly for attacking a policeman and was given 15 days of administrative arrest, and then arrested for two months already in a criminal case on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities), she fainted, and woke up already in a special facility. “The trial took place while the woman was unconscious,” the committee said in a statement.
Zarema Musaeva is the wife of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya. At the end of January, under the guise of forcibly delivering a witness in a criminal case, Chechen security forces took Musaeva from her apartment in Nizhny Novgorod by force and took her to Chechnya, where she ended up in a special detention center. Saydi Yangulbaev and his son, human rights activist Abubakar Yangulbaev, link the persecution of the family with the fact that another son of Saydi Yangulbaev, Ibragim, is suspected by the Chechen authorities of administering the opposition and extremist telegram channel 1ADAT.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called the family “accomplices of terrorists.” He stated that “this family is waiting for a place either in prison or underground,” and also threatened the judge’s relatives with “destruction.”
