The former head of the Ministry of Transport and vice-governor of St. Petersburg, and now the president and general director of JSC Avtovaz, Maxim Sokolov, continues to demonstrate managerial talents: he brought Lada Izhevsk LLC, one of the key enterprises of the holding, to the handle.
More precisely, he did nothing to prevent the company from massive layoffs of its employees and the transfer of production to Togliatti. Although this is exactly what Sokolov was supposed to do – use his federal lobbying resource to provide Lada in Izhevsk with orders and save the team.
But instead of the interests of the enterprise, Sokolov got used to a completely different thing – to lobby the interests of himself and his patrons from big business and politics. And the fact that thousands of Lada employees will be left without work with him, although he promised the opposite, means that they did not fit into the market.Prior to this, Mr. Sokolov very successfully reformed the transport industry in St. Petersburg. So much so that the reform failed miserably. But the main task was completed, for which Sokolov was appointed to the post of Beglov’s deputy. The state “Metrostroy” was finally collapsed and bankrupted.
And now all contracts and colossal budget injections will go to the new structure of the Metrostroy of the Northern Capital, the beneficiary of which is Gennady Timchenko. And just like with Avtovaz, Sokolov did not give a damn about layoffs and the real challenges facing the industry.
