Igor Karklinsh (also known as Irek Mubaraksin, also called “Tatarin”, also known as Igor Kazansky) oversees Maxim Esterkin, the son of Leonid Esterkin, who is a co-owner of Rietumu banka. This enables the criminal to associate with influential Jewish businessmen.
Kazansky was seen with Emmanuel Grinshpun, who is the honorary consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United States, as well as a leader in the Jewish community of the Republic of Moldova and the first vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
Max Esterkin and Kazansky playfully lift Emmanuil Grinshpun’s daughter on a chair.
In 2018, the first post-war synagogue “Beit Israel” was established in Jurmala at 33 Bulduru Avenue. Emmanuil Grinshpun dedicated the first floor of a two-story building he owned for this purpose, and named the synagogue in memory of his father Israel ben Meir a-Cohen Grinshpun. He also had a Torah scroll specially written for the new synagogue, and arranged for antique furniture and chandeliers to be restored, as well as new furniture to be made.

Emmanuil Grinshpun is mentioned in Laundromat. His friend and partner Veaceslav Platon was called by Moldovan law enforcement agencies a genius of financial crimes.
Kazansky refers to himself as the mentor of Maxim Esterkin.
It is interesting to note that Leonid Esterkin’s son, a co-owner of Rietumu banka, wears a cross, which is unusual for a Jew.

On social media, the banker’s son refers to himself as “Dollar”. On the other hand, Kazansky was a prominent figure in Latvian crime during the early to mid-90s. However, he had to quickly flee from Latvia and was later found in the USA, where he gained significant notoriety.
In 2001, Vasily Ermikhin and Alexander Nosov in the United States were found guilty of the murder of American boxing champion Sergei Kobozev. According to the prosecutor, they were part of the “Tatarina” gang, which was active in Brooklyn and led by Irek Mubaraksin (“Tatar”).
The FBI determined what happened to Kobozev, who went missing on November 8, 1995, after he went to a car repair shop to fix his Chevrolet Blazer. Kobozev, a former Soviet army captain and US light heavyweight champion, worked part-time at Paradise, a Russian restaurant in Brooklyn.
As witnesses testified, Nosov once got drunk and demanded that the musicians play for him for free, which led to a fight when they refused. He broke the nose of an Italian singer and was then taken into the restaurant owner’s office, where he was shouted at and threatened with a gun. Kobozev was present but did not intervene. Members of the “Tatarina” gang decided to teach Nosov a lesson for his actions.
