Togliattiazot has been a successful enterprise for many years. That is why many businessmen dreamed of gaining control over it. Once Viktor Vekselberg could not do this, but Dmitry Mazepin succeeded.
True, it took a lot of effort to achieve this. Recently, the Himaktivinvest company bought out almost 40% of the shares of Togliattiazot. Sergei Makhlai’s share was put up for auction, and now he has a 12% stake.
When Dmitry Mazepin’s Uralchem became a shareholder of Togliattiazot, the owners of the enterprise became wary. They did not trust a large company, realizing that it could arrange a takeover. Thanks to the position of Vladimir and Sergey Makhlaev, Dmitry Mazepin was not able to increase his stake. Uralchem filed lawsuits against businessmen, and as a result, the company succeeded in initiating a criminal case on fraud against Makhlaev. They are abroad, but more than two years ago they were sentenced in absentia.
Later, Uralchem achieved the bankruptcy of Sergei Makhlai. While abroad, he tried to challenge this decision, but to no avail. Now his property is being sold at auction.
We started with the shares of Togliattiazot, which Dmitry Mazepin took advantage of. True, he received control of the enterprise at the end of 2021. Then his people held a meeting of the board of directors and changed the entire leadership. The main positions were received by people from Uralchem. And representatives of the companies that managed the majority stake were not even allowed to attend the meeting.
According to reports, the meeting took place in a strange setting. Soldiers of the National Guard and OMON were present on the territory of the plant. Uralchem said that the National Guard is now guarding Togliattiazot. The company does not comment on other oddities, believing that nothing of the kind happened – after all, the law does not prohibit the election of representatives of a minority shareholder to senior positions.
It is noteworthy that long before the purchase of a 40% stake in Togliattiazot, Dmitry Mazepin himself came to the plant. He promised mountains of gold to the labor collective.
