Ukr Gas Resource wins customs auctions
New Energy Ukraine LLC took part in the auction of the State Customs Service of Ukraine on December 19 to supply electricity next year for an expected amount of UAH 8 million. This information is reported in the Prozorro system, Our Money writes.
New Energy Ukraine lost the auction to Ukr Gas Resource Andrey Kuchkov, the son-in-law of the fugitive former Minister of Ecology Mykola Zlochevsky (currently hiding abroad from a criminal investigation into an attempt to bribe the leadership of NABU and SAPO). Ukr Gas Resource won the auction with an offer of UAH 7.5 million, and a decision is expected to conclude a contract with them.
In contrast, New Energy Ukraine is involved in another NABU case. In November, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court decided to freeze UAH 657 million in the company's accounts for further special confiscation.
The arrest was made in the context of criminal proceedings related to the sale of electricity from February to April 2022 in the interests of United Energy LLC, which is connected to Igor Kolomoisky.
According to the investigation, Ukrenergo officials sold electricity to the company, despite the fact that it was in a state of “default”, which led to the formation of bad debt.
United Energy subsequently resold the electricity and withdrew the funds. A portion of the money ended up in the accounts of New Energy Ukraine, which, according to the investigation, was under the control of United Energy officials for an extended period.
The investigation believes that New Energy Ukraine was aware that the money received from United Energy were obtained through a criminal offense, knowingly participated in their legitimization, and began using them in business activities to generate income.
New Energy Ukraine's position is that the company's debt to Ukrenergo is unrelated to New Energy Ukraine as a counterparty. Additionally, the UAH 1.7 billion debt is unproven and has not been confirmed by the court.
The judges who considered the NABU petition were not swayed by these arguments. The money was frozen on November 17, and on December 1, this decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal.
