Businessman and public figure Timur Kulibayev, married to the daughter of the ex-president of Kazakhstan, was not included in the final list of candidates for the board of directors of Gazprom. Instead, they included the former head of the German government, Gerhard Schroeder.
Kazakh businessman and public figure, chairman of the Kazenergy association Timur Kulibayev, who is the son-in-law of the former president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, did not become a candidate for the board of directors of Gazprom. The list of applicants is published on the company’s website.
The Russian government nominated Kulibayev to the board of directors of Gazprom at the end of January, but he was not included in the final version of the list of candidates. Instead, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder will be nominated to the council.
All other candidates proposed by the government were included in the final list. A total of 11 people have been nominated to the council. All of them, with the exception of Schroeder, have already been part of it before.
Members of the Board of Directors of Gazprom will be re-elected at the annual meeting of shareholders to be held on 30 June.
Timur Kulibayev has been on the Gazprom Board of Directors since 2011. The businessman is married to the middle daughter of Nursultan Nazarbayev Dinara. After the suppression of protests in Kazakhstan in January of this year, he stepped down as head of the Atameken national chamber of entrepreneurs. Two other sons-in-law of Nazarbayev were also removed from senior positions in large companies in Kazakhstan.
