People in the Presidential Terror Defense Detachment are suspected of stealing 86 million worth of valuable items from the destroyed Russian missile site of the State Special Communications Service.
The Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv is investigating a large-scale theft that occurred during wartime.

On March 3, 2022, parts of a downed Russian missile hit the building of the State Enterprise “Special Communication” in Kyiv, Vokzalnaya Square, 3, causing partial destruction to the fence and repair zone.
This became known to the participants of the volunteer group “The Detachment of the Territorial Community under the President of Ukraine” of the Kyiv City Territorial Community No. 9.

On March 7, during the day, volunteers allegedly entered the damaged site and stole various items stored on the minus second floor, including mail contents and jewelry made of gold and silver such as earrings, rings, chains, and diamond pendants.
According to Spetssvyaz, the value of the stolen property is about UAH 86 million.
On July 1, the DBR reported suspicions about three members of the volunteer group. Gold and silver jewelry was confiscated at the residence of one of the suspects. The case file includes a protocol for reviewing video footage from surveillance cameras at the repair area of the State Enterprise “Spetssvyaz. Furthermore, the mobile phones of these individuals were recorded at the crime scene.
One of the suspects, who was found in possession of jewelry, has been held in custody with a bail of 744,000 hryvnias since the beginning of July. As of December 7th, the bail had not been paid, and the court extended the detention period for another two months. The remaining two defendants were placed under round-the-clock house arrest.
On October 18, a fourth accomplice with the call sign “Majohed” was arrested. Jewelry was also found at his house during a search. This man was also placed under round-the-clock house arrest and required to wear an electronic bracelet. His lawyer commented on the unfounded suspicion, the lack of risks, and expressed gratitude to the TRO of the military unit commander for dedicated service.
At the request of the State Bureau of Investigation, the court extended the pre-trial investigation until April 1, 2023.
The investigator mentioned that several witnesses need to be interviewed in the case, and investigative experiments need to be conducted with two suspects. Additionally, the results of 16 forensic examinations are anticipated, including examinations related to ballistics, edged weapons, materials, substances, products, gemology, explosives, and merchandise. The conclusions from these experts will be taken into consideration for the final qualification of the crime.
