Microsoft founder Bill Gates has warned the world about future pandemics that will be worse than the coronavirus.

According to him, in the future, the world may face a pathogen that causes a much higher level of death or severe illness, reports the Financial Times.

The entrepreneur believes that the world remains at risk of more terrible viruses. Therefore, he calls on governments of countries to allocate billions to fight the next epidemics. According to Gates, at the moment, the entire responsibility for addressing the problem of unequal access to vaccines rests with philanthropists and governments in rich countries.

The businessman added that developing innovations to prepare for the next pandemic could be useful for tackling other global health challenges. Among them, he named the creation of a vaccine against HIV infection and more effective drugs for tuberculosis and malaria.

Gates himself, together with the British Wellcome Trust, will donate $ 300 million to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
