Armen Sargsyan creates a new PMC in Russian-controlled territories? DOSSIER
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) with reference to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR MOU), the Russian government approved the creation of a new Private Military Company (PMC) under the leadership of Armen Sargsyan (“Armen Gorlovsky”), who is associated with Viktor Yanukovych, and also with Yuri Ivanyushchenko (“Yura Enakrevskiy”) and Ivan Avramov.
The members for this PMC will be selected in the Russian-controlled territories of Ukraine.
Armen Sarkisyan does not create a PMC just like that – “All this is being done to eliminate the monopoly of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin,” ISW believes.
According to the GUR MOU, the newly created structure will be sponsored by Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan. He is the owner of Tashir Holding and Electric Networks of Armenia, which have ties to Gazprom
“Russian officials can further promote the existing parallel military structures of Kadyrov and Sargsyan’s efforts to create a private military company to counter the rise of Prigozhin, who uses his structures to establish himself as a central figure in Russian politics,” the ISW emphasizes.
