Owner of the Selenginsky Combine Evgeny Pruidze and director Lilia Deeva promoted the company in a social network, and now are advertising it through a long film on a popular YouTube channel.
August 19, 2022, a film titled How a timber industry grandfather saved a bankrupt plant and the city of Selenginsk was released on the YouTube channel JCCC AntiFakeNews
. The video tells the story of the development of the Selenginsky pulp and paper mill in Buryatia, and the contributions of the company’s leaders to the development of the village of Selenginsk. The channel is described as a source of truth and justice, and the author presents himself as a fighter against fakes. However, it was later admitted that the
film contained inaccuracies.
The film's statements about using waste from logging enterprises for cardboard production are questioned as it is unlikely to yield high-quality raw materials. Additionally, the volume of waste from logging enterprises in the republic is unlikely to sustain significant cardboard production.
Further, the film's assertion that the plant exports cardboard to 37 countries is contrasted with the potential sourcing of healthy wood by CJSC Baikal Forest Company, also owned by Evgeny Pruidze, for plant operations. Therefore, awarding the Selenginsky Combine the title of “forest orderly” is deemed inappropriate.
Challenges to the plant's environmental standards are also raised, citing numerous violations of STsKK production environmental safety.
