The European Court allowed Nikita Mazepin to compete in Formula 1
The European Court ruled on the claim of the Russian racer Nikita Mazepin, he received the right to engage in professional activities in the EU.
According to the press service of the court on Thursday, Mazepin can compete in Formula 1 and other racing series, including stages held in Europe. But the athlete remains under sanctions and will only be able to compete in a neutral status.
In March 2022, the father of the racer, businessman Dmitry Mazepin, came under EU sanctions. Nikita Mazepin was included in the sanctions list of the EU and the UK.
Previously, Mazepin raced in Formula 1 for the American Haas team, where he spent one season without scoring a single point. In March 2022, Haas terminated the contract with Mazepin, as well as the sponsor Uralkali, which is headed by the athlete’s father.
