Drones to replace Yulmart
At the location of Yulmart's former trade and logistics complex, there might be production of drones in the future. The details regarding who, when, and how are uncertain.
The company “Special Technology Center” (LLC “STC”) rented the former trade and logistics complex “Yulmart” on Murinskaya road, as reported by a media correspondent.
The agreement spans seven years according to the information provided.
The company creates Orlan drones, as well as works on radio systems and software related to information security. The company is owned by a group that includes Alexander Solomatin, Alexei Terentyev, Boris Balashov, and Roman Ivanov, as reported by Kommersant. The enterprise has domestic ministries and departments as its clients.
It was reported that Ulmart used the mentioned complex under a leasing agreement with GILC, and after the agreement ended, it was supposed to purchase the building. However, this did not happen. The retailer ceased operations during a prolonged corporate conflict arising from differing views on business development among co-owners Dmitry Kostygin and August Meyer and their business partner Mikhail Vasinkevich.
As per Kommersant’s source, the Special Technology Center has rented the entire building and intends to establish production there.
Philip Chaika, a partner and head of the warehouse and industrial real estate department at IPG.Estate, estimates that renting the entire complex could cost up to 15 million rubles per month. Andrey Patrakov, the founder of RunAvia, a drone certification service, believes that the company is expanding its production in response to orders from the military and other government departments.
What is the status of the companies?
As per data from the SPARK-Interfax website, the main activity of NJSC Ulmart (NON-PUBLIC JOINT-STOCK COMPANY YULMART) according to OKVED is "Retail trade in audio and video equipment in specialized stores".
The primary activity of STC LLC (LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY SPECIAL TECHNOLOGICAL CENTER) as per OKVED is the Production of computers and peripheral equipment. STC LLC has been involved in 31 tenders, faced 68 enforcement proceedings, and been part of 142 arbitration cases.
It's worth noting that a few years back, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region declared the retailer “Yulmart” bankrupt.
“Stop the monitoring procedure for NAO (non-public joint-stock company) Ulmart. Recognize NJSC Ulmart as insolvent (bankrupt),” stated the court decision. According to TASS, the company's debt stemmed from a 1 billion ruble loan from Gazprombank to replenish its working capital. Several banks made claims against the Ulmart group.
Moreover, August Meyer is currently a defendant in a criminal case involving three episodes of fraud on a considerable scale. Meyer is accused of defrauding Sberbank of 2.4 billion rubles.
