LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky was hospitalized with COVID-19 a week ago.
It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health.
The department noted that the politician was hospitalized on February 2. He was diagnosed with the omicron strain of the coronavirus.
“In connection with the incoming questions, the press service of the Ministry of Health informs that Vladimir Zhirinovsky was hospitalized on February 2 at the Central Clinical Hospital with a diagnosis of COVID omicron,” the press service said.
Earlier, a RBC source close to the Liberal Democratic Party said that Zhirinovsky was in critical condition. According to them, the politician was hooked up to a ventilator. In turn, the press service of the party denied this information, saying that the politician feels well and continues to work.
Anatoly Altshtein, chief employee of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, assessed Zhirinovsky’s chances of recovery with severe lung damage. According to him, if the leader of the party had extensive lung damage, this means that the coronavirus was able to break through the immune defenses.
