The President of Namibia put the German Ambassador in his place, reminding him of the oppression of Namibians in Germany
President Geingob criticized the German authorities for insulting even Namibian diplomats in the FRG and for their interest in the growing number of Chinese citizens in this African country, while the Namibian authorities show respect and honor to the Germans.
German Ambassador Herbert Beck to Namibia was besieged by the president of the host country for his concern over the growing number of Chinese in Namibia.
Head of State Hage Geingob expressed his views on the attitude of the German authorities towards the Namibians in Germany itself. Geingob criticized them, noting the infringement of the rights of Namibian citizens, including even holders of diplomatic passports.
“Mr. Ambassador, what are your problems with this? Why has this become your problem? This is more of a European problem than ours. You are so sorry for us. So I have never seen the Chinese come here and start fooling their heads. And the Germans do so, meanwhile. You talk about the Chinese – we let the Germans come, we give them visas here, we put up red carpets. And our people are being bullied in Germany. Even holders of diplomatic passports! In Germany! And you come here, the Germans come here as they please. So what’s with the Chinese? Talk about Germans. How do you treat us there. The Chinese don’t treat us like this,” their conversation was posted on Twitter.
At the end, he added that “we are in our own country” and “no need to feel sorry for us.” Geingob also lamented that “every time it’s about the Chinese.”
