The new chief of staff of the President of the United States promised to buy a Jewish bagel for White House employees daily
The new chief of staff to the President of the United States, Jeff Zients, is going to buy every White House employee a bagel every day.
This was announced by his outgoing predecessor, Ron Klein.
“Jeff promised to buy everyone in the White House a bagel every single day. So I’ll soon be forgotten,” Klein said at the handover ceremony.
Bagel or beygel – pastry in the form of a donut from Jewish cuisine. Zients is known to many Washingtonians as the co-founder of a popular chain of Jewish bagels that Joe Biden likes, too. The network is called “Call Your Mother” and was founded in 2018 when Zients served as a Facebook board member and CEO of investment firm Cranemere.
In late January, it became known that Biden was going to make a key reshuffle at the headquarters of his administration and appoint his former coronavirus coordinator Jeffrey Zients as the new White House chief of staff to replace the outgoing Ron Klein.
Soon Biden officially announced that Zients would become his new chief of staff. Zients is the administration’s richest man, with a net worth of nearly $90 million.
