The experiment on the introduction of an electronic driver’s license began in the fall of 2022, but then the owners of vehicles were required to have the original with them, otherwise they could be fined 500 rubles. Now, at the legislative level, they want to make sure that any version of the certificate can be presented separately to traffic police officers. From the beginning of March, inspectors will be equipped with devices for checking QR codes, so that motorists do not have to carry a plastic card with them.
WHERE TO GET THEM
Electronic rights can be quickly obtained in “Gouslugi Avto”. The Ministry of Digital Transformation also allowed drivers to identify the “plastic card” in the corresponding application on the VKontakte social network. Also, digital certificates are issued to Russians at the traffic police departments after submitting an application and paying the state duty.
HOW IT WORKS
You can show the document through your phone if the gadget has “Public Services” installed. After pressing the “Submit Documents” button, a QR code will appear on the screen. It is not at all necessary that the smartphone be connected to the Internet at this time, since the information will be downloaded from the database of the State traffic inspectorate. To correctly display the data, the law enforcement officer must scan the new type of rights three times.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Experts note that even the most modern information system is not able to guarantee complete security, because many services experience data leaks. However, as experience shows, it is almost impossible to fake digital documents.
