LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who contracted the coronavirus, has avoided new European Union (EU) sanctions. A document with a list of those involved in the restrictions is published on the EU website, but the names of the politician are not among them.
At the same time, the list included, in particular, State Duma Vice Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy and Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov. The restrictions include a ban on entry into EU countries and an asset freeze.
In total, 351 State Duma deputies fell under the sanctions, who voted in support of an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The list included members of the LDPR faction led by Zhirinovsky, including Yaroslav Nilov, Dmitry Svishchev, Andrey Lugovoi.
