Roskomsvoboda announces a possible blocking of YouTube video hosting. Message about it appeared in the telegram channel of the project.
Since March 2, “the blocking of the yt3.ggpht.com domain of the YouTube service, which is used to upload pictures and other static content on YouTube, has been observed. Blocking is carried out by the TSPU DPI system, on providers where this system is installed, ”Roskomsvoboda said in a statement.
Connections from OBIT, Rostelecom, MTS and Tele2 providers do not receive a positive response to requests to this domain. Requests to other IP addresses with this domain are also blocked.

Soon Roskomsvoboda released clarificationthat their technicians have noticed a change in behavior in the video hosting service domains. They suggest that the RKN is training to slow down YouTube, but plans to do so for now. The project also admits that the regulator may start slowing down YouTube.
On February 25, Roskomnadzor announced a slowdown in the traffic of the social network Facebook, which the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office recognized as being involved in the violation of the rights and freedoms of Russians. This happened after Facebook restricted the accounts of several state-owned Russian media outlets: Zvezda TV channel, RIA Novosti, Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru because of materials about military operations in Ukraine.
