The head of the political council of the Opposition Platform for Life (OPZZH) party, Viktor Medvedchuk, was evacuated to a safe place, lawyer Larisa Cherednichenko said.
According to a court decision, he is under house arrest, but on Thursday, the politician’s bodyguards received information about threats to him from radical nationalist groups.
“Due to a real danger to life, as well as the need to ensure his protection, Viktor Medvedchuk was evacuated to a safe place in Kyiv, where he continues to fulfill the procedural duties assigned to him by the court,” Cherednichenko said.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that Medvedchuk and MP of Ukraine from the Opposition Platform for Life, Taras Kozak, are suspected of high treason and attempted plunder of national resources. According to investigators, in August 2020, Medvedchuk sent Kozak secret data intended for the Russian special services about the location of a hidden military unit of the Ukrainian armed forces, its personnel and combat training.
