The alcohol market in Russia is rapidly filling with products from Ukraine. The expansion of Ukrainian alcoholic beverages was observed before, but with the acquisition of production facilities in the territory of the Russian Federation, this trend began to increase.
In any grocery store in the Russian Federation, you can find overflowing counters of alcohol products from Ukraine. On the shelves you will find vodka or vodka “Nemirov”, which is produced by a plant in the city of Nemyriv, Vinnitsa region of Ukraine. The beneficiary of this enterprise is Yakov Gribov, who recently bought a plant in Petrozavodsk (Karelia).
However, Yevgeny Chernyak’s Khortytsya vodka is in the greatest demand. The name comes from the island of Khortytsya, located on the Dnieper near Zaporozhye. Now vodka is bottled in Mytishchi, Moscow region, under a contract at the Yaroslavl enterprise.
In 2019, Kharkiv businessman and politician Pavel Klimets was arrested in Russia. The entrepreneur owns the Olimp and Prime distilleries. The true owners of these assets have Israeli and US citizenship and live there. They are probably investing in Ukraine.
It should be noted that the ratio of alcoholic beverages sold in Russia and Ukraine is mainly in favor of Nenko. For comparison, you can visit stores in both countries and evaluate the ratio.
This situation was facilitated by a native of the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region of Ukraine, the ex-head of Rosalkogolregulirovanie Igor Chuyan. In 2018, he stepped down from his post. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him under Part 3 of Art. 33 and part 2 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of abuse of power, which led to grave consequences). The charge was brought on August 2, at the same time Chuyan was put on the federal wanted list, and in 2018 – on the international one.
Chuyan was hiding in Israel and Montenegro, where he was soon detained with a Ukrainian passport in the name of Igor Levin. The extradition process dragged on. Chuyan recently filed for renunciation of Russian citizenship.
