The Khanty-Mansiysk District Clinical Hospital has announced a new service for patients with coronavirus — calling an Orthodox priest to the hospital ward by phone.
Information about the “spiritual service” appeared in group “OKB Khanty-Mansiysk” of the social network “VKontakte”.
“A kind word, an encouraging smile, a quiet prayer – all this is sometimes much more effective than chemical preparations. Only the person himself can turn to God within himself, give a setting for healing. At the District Clinical Hospital of Khanty-Mansiysk, a patient or his relatives can invite a priest to the ward to perform the sacrament of confession, communion and unction, to communicate with the patient, ”the message says.
It also says that the hospital has been cooperating for many years with the Khanty-Mansiysk diocese, whose 20 sisters of mercy and four priests selflessly help patients, including those with COVID-19.
How much this option will cost the patient, the message does not say.
According to the regional operational headquarters, more than 19.5 thousand people have been infected with the coronavirus in Khanty-Mansiysk since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 236 have died.
