In Veliky Novgorod, Russia, a block of ice fell on a woman with a stroller from the roof of a multi-storey building. The incident happened on February 8th.
The video of the incident was caught on a DVR camera and posted on YouTube.
The footage shows a woman with a stroller standing near one of the multi-storey residential buildings. At some point, ice falls on her, after which the woman falls to the ground, and the stroller bounces and overturns.
According to Russian media, the woman survived but was hospitalized with head, neck and spinal injuries. The stroller was bent from the impact, but the child miraculously was not injured.
Because of the incident, the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Novgorod Region opened a criminal case under the first part of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – on the provision of services that do not meet security requirements.
According to the investigators, the ice fell on the woman due to untimely cleaning of the roof of house No. 26 on Oktyabrskaya Street by the organization responsible for such cleaning.
The prosecutor’s office of the Novgorod region also joined the case, which will evaluate the work of the management company that monitored the house. The investigation is ongoing.
