According to the French environmental organization Sea Shepherd, dead fish were thrown into the Atlantic Ocean on purpose – so as not to be processed.
The second largest Dutch fishing vessel in the world, the FV Margiris, has thrown more than 100,000 dead fish carcasses into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of France. Thus, a “carpet” of dead fish was formed in the ocean, it was immediately noticed by environmental organizations. Fish industry group PFA said the release of the fish into the ocean was due to a ruptured net. The French authorities have asked the National Directorate of Fisheries to investigate the incident. About it informs British news agency Reuters.
