Tikhanovskaya sentenced to 15 years in prison
A Belarusian court sentenced opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in absentia to 15 years in prison. Ex-Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko was given 18 years in prison.
Former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in a penal colony in the case of the coordinating council of the Belarusian opposition, BelTA informs. Since August 2020, she has been living in Lithuania.
She and other defendants were found guilty of plotting to seize state power, creating an extremist formation, and publicly calling for the seizure of power.
Ex-Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko, who announced his resignation from the council at the end of February, was sentenced in absentia to 18 years in prison.
