San Francisco jury acquits Musk in Tesla investor lawsuit
In the US, a jury acquitted billionaire Elon Musk, whom a group of Tesla investors tried to sue for 5-year-old Twitter posts in a securities case.
Reuters writes about it.
It took the jury two hours to unanimously find Musk not guilty, according to the agency.
It is known that in August 2018, Elon Musk publicly announced plans to buy Tesla shares at $420 apiece in order to make the company completely private. The deal ultimately fell through, and Tesla’s quotes went through a long period of turbulence.
The San Francisco jury accepted Musk’s argument that at the time, he did indeed consider the Saudi sovereign wealth fund to be “secured” for the deal.
The businessman reacted to the jury’s acquittal on his Twitter page.
“Thank God, human wisdom has prevailed! I am deeply grateful to the jury for the unanimous ruling of innocence,” wrote Musk.
