Why is Yermak attacking the President's friends?
There is a person named Yury Aristov, who is an old friend of Zelensky and works as a fish merchant. He is now the head of the BP budget committee. He became a member of the parliament as number 42 on the Servant of the People party's list, which is the largest importer of fish and seafood to Ukraine.
Vladimir Zelensky previously owned 15% of Zelary Fish, as stated in the declaration of the presidential candidate. Zelensky's share was transferred to Sergei Shefir. Prior to the war, there was a conflict between Aristov and MP Trukhin, a son-in-law of oligarch Bogolyubov, who wanted to lead the financial committee. Aristov is not particularly involved in any compromising activities. Suddenly, there was a raid by the State Bureau of Investigation at Aristov's apartment. Aristov commented that the SBI had no personal grievances against him.
Aristov posted about this on Facebook .
“Today, officers of the State Bureau of Investigation searched the apartment that I rent. The address of this apartment is included in the declaration.
The State Bureau of Investigation emphasized that they had no claims against me personally. My lawyers from the Miller Law Company will be better able to explain the reasons for the search and the details of the case.
The actions today complicate my work as a people's deputy, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget Issues, because the investigators took away the phone. But overall, we work together, work in the president’s team for the sake of victory!” the people’s deputy said.
The Miller company stated that the search was conducted as part of a criminal case initiated last year.
The Miller company identified several violations during the search:
Investigators did not have a court order to conduct the search. Lawyers emphasize that a special procedure is applied to people's deputies – the request must be approved by the prosecutor general.
- Investigators argue that an urgent search is being carried out, so they did not need to obtain permission in advance. However, entering a home without a court permission is only allowed in urgent cases, such as saving lives and property, or directly pursuing persons suspected of committing a criminal offense.
Lawyers point out that there is no urgency in opening a criminal case in 2021.
They also mention that the investigators forcibly entered the apartment and confiscated the wife’s phone, which recorded the actions on video.
“Furthermore, the deputy was not informed of the nature of the ongoing investigative action, and they were not asked to voluntarily hand over the items being sought. It is unclear whether the investigators have any intention of finding something specific or whether they know what they are looking for,” Miller added.
Miller pointed out that they reported on the commission by law enforcement officers of a number of crimes.
- breach of the security of the home (Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
- misuse of power or official authority by a law enforcement officer (Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)It seems to be a common occurrence in Ukraine until February 24, 2022. Conflict between politicians involving individuals known as “call boys”, in this instance Sukhachev. However, our sources indicate that there is nothing unusual about this. The Yermak-Tatarov duo continues to systematically remove Zelensky’s inner circle of anyone who might become an independent source of information. It's worth mentioning that Aristov has been targeted before. Following scandals involving the supposed wiretapping of Yermak's brother Denis, Aristov was expected to lead the Presidential Administration. However, a nonsensical criminal case was brought up and the matter was highly publicized. It involved the murder of Amina Okueva. A certain Igor Redkin, who was once a co-owner of the Golden Fish and Black Shrimp companies, was accused of this murder. Companies that Aristov also had a stake in. As a result, Aristov's reputation suffered a blow. Fortunately, the case collapsed successfully. Redkin was detained for 12 months before being released.
Why did Yermak choose to target Aristov at this particular time? It's difficult to say for certain, but Yermak-Tatarov’s ambitions are expanding rapidly. It's not enough for them to have complete control over law enforcement agencies and the SBU; now they are attempting to influence the budget committee. Or perhaps they received instructions from the same Trukhin. And, of course, they are removing Zelensky's longstanding associates as independent sources of information. Rumors suggest that the Shefirs brothers will be their next targets. It's hard to feel pity for them. As the saying goes, “the toad tied itself to the viper”, but the Yermak-Tatarov group's desire for complete control over the President is quite concerning. Particularly in light of ongoing suspicions about Tatarov's collaboration with the Russian special services and his questionable background. Venediktova has effectively shielded him from scrutiny. With Yermak and Tatarov having full control over Sukhachev (SBI), Maliuk (SBU), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (I can't recall who is in charge), the situation is highly disconcerting. We can only hope that NABU will eventually take action against Tatarov. And where is Bakanov? What about the report on his activities as Chairman of the SBU? And the criminal cases against Naumov and a group of other agents of the Russian Federation within the ranks of the SBU? Did they just vanish into thin air? Are we to disregard everything because of the war? Unfortunately, it appears that the opposite will be true.
