Bakanov case: investigation completed
Official investigation into the activities of the former head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov completed, said on air Radio Liberty member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence Fedor Venislavsky, referring to the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk.
According to Venislavsky, the issue of Bakanov’s activities was raised at a committee meeting on February 6 with the participation of Maliuk.
“Special procedures for verifying Bakanov have been completed. I think that this society will be informed when necessary. Because these are stamped test materials, materials with limited access. Yesterday we also received an answer where Bakanov is. It is located in Ukraine“, – said Fedor Venislavsky.
When asked if he knew that it was in these materials of the official investigation, Venislavsky replied that the members of the committee “were admitted to all levels of state secrets, but they cannot always speak.”
At the same time, Roman Kostenko, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence of the committee, who was also present at the committee meeting, told Radio Liberty that he did not know if any facts of crimes committed by Bakanov had been discovered by the internal investigation.
According to Kostenko, the materials of the investigation should be transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation.
“Mr. Bakanov is a military man. Because such cases are investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation. But as far as I know, this case has not been transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation and I do not know if there are any facts of the crime. But the RBI should look into the results of this investigation. So there were no specifics.”, Roman Kostenko said.
According to Kostenko, the committee meeting was not held behind closed doors, not in a special room, so Vasily Malyuk could not freely answer all questions.
