In St. Petersburg, two men were detained who, as part of an organized criminal group, committed contract killings from 1996 to 2001.
According to the investigation, the detainees were involved in the murder of a man on December 30, 1997 in a cafe on Energetikov Avenue. They are also involved in the murder in 2001 of the vice-president of one of the public organizations, who was shot dead near the house on Bolshoy Prospekt of the Petrograd side; to the murder of a crime boss in September 1997 near Sennaya Square; to the attempted murder of a businessman and his driver in December 1996 near a house on Socialist Street; to the murder of a woman in May 1999 on the territory of Ukraine. In all cases firearms were used.
It is known about the detainees that they were born in 1965 and 1968. One of them has been charged, and a measure of restraint has been chosen for each.
