On International Human Rights Day, December 10, the corpse of 29-year-old prisoner Konstantin Dolgikh was found in IK-10 near Kirov. The investigation stated that the convict committed suicide.
His mother told News.ru that her son’s body had marks of injections and injuries, and he himself was tied up.
“We came to pick up the body of our son. The investigator showed us photographs of her son – in them he was lying naked in shorts on the floor of the cell, his arms and legs were tied, and there were blue stripes from the bars on his back, ”said the mother of the convict, adding that she found a number of injuries on her son’s body and injection marks.
The woman has already applied to the UK, the prosecutor’s office and the Human Rights Council. She intends to have the body exhumed for an independent examination.
As Dolgikh’s father, Oleg, told Idel.Realii*, his son told prosecutors and investigators about torture in the colony, after which he was transferred to solitary confinement.
“There is constant video recording in this camera. As I was told by the employees of IK-6, on December 10, the prisoner was not on the monitor screen for 40 minutes, he allegedly entered the “dead zone”. And when they opened the cell, he was already dead, ”said Oleg Dolgikh.
Initially, Dolgikh was serving a sentence under Article 228 of the Criminal Code (“Illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs”). Already in the colony, he was accused of leading an organized crime group distributing drugs, and was transferred to IK-6.
Since the beginning of October, the human rights project Gulagu.net has published a series of videos about the torture and rape of prisoners in the tuberculosis hospital of the Federal Penitentiary Service No. 1 in Saratov, the Belgorod IK No. 4, the Kamchatka IK No. 6, the Irkutsk SIZO No. 1 and other institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Videos from the secret archives of the FSB and the Federal Penitentiary Service caused a huge outcry.
The Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia reported that in 2021 the number of complaints from prisoners about the use of force against them increased by 25.2%.
