Former MGIMO professor Valery Solovy and his son were interrogated in the UK in the status of witnesses in the case of inciting hatred or enmity. The previous morning, his home was searched as part of a case involving alleged publications of extremist content on the Internet.
The case was initiated under paragraph “c”, part 2, article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – incitement of hatred or enmity on the basis of belonging to a certain social group, committed by an organized group of persons.
“Today, Valery’s house was searched as part of a criminal case initiated by the TFR in the fall of 2021. <…> Under the social group of persons against which hatred was allegedly incited, in the decision to conduct a search in a dwelling, law enforcement agencies are understood, ”said the lawyer.
They took a non-disclosure agreement from the father and son, however, as the lawyer notes, the subscription can only be taken away from the participants in criminal proceedings.
“Valery’s [Соловья] and his son, it is precisely the status of witnesses in the case that does not apply to participants in criminal proceedings. This means that the requirement for non-disclosure of data from the preliminary investigation is illegal, ”added Dobrynin.
At the moment, the interrogation of Nightingale and his son is over. They were sent home.
