In the Ulyanovsk region, 38 prisoners of colony No. 10 (IK-10) went on a hunger strike in protest.

The incident became known on Saturday, February 5. According to the representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Ulyanovsk region, the prisoners who refused to eat are malicious violators of order in the Russian correctional institution.
The Russians submitted their decision to refuse cooked food in the colony in writing. The Federal Penitentiary Service explained that in this way the prisoners protested against security requirements, compliance with internal regulations and search activities.
Those who refused food are serving sentences for serious crimes, the press service added.
Data on refusing to eat was sent to the supervisory authorities, the institution has already been visited by representatives. The state of health of these prisoners in the Ulyanovsk region is monitored by doctors.
