On Saturday morning in Nizhnekamsk, employees of the Gemont company went on strike demanding wage indexation.
As Nikolai Mukhranov, assistant to the city prosecutor, explained to NTR 24, the company’s employees are paid in rubles, and due to the depreciation of the Russian currency, when converted into dollars, they lose a lot of money.
Workers involved in the construction of the EP-600 plant say that it is unprofitable for them to work at such a rate. They demanded to be reimbursed for the difference.
The general directors of Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Gemont visited the workers. The parties came to a decision: workers will be paid salaries at the rate of 90 rubles per dollar by the end of the day, the press service of the administration reports.
The customer company of the EP-600 complex construction project fulfills all contractual obligations under the project on time. There are no delays in payment for the amount of work performed by Gemont.
