For three years, operatives have been collecting evidence of the involvement of 76-year-old Boris “Apakel” Petrov in his occupation of the highest position in the criminal hierarchy.

According to investigators, the man received his status as a thief in law back in 1965, when he was serving a term in prison. At that time, Boris was only 19 years old. Since then, the man has become one of the most influential criminals in Russia.

“As a result of extensive operational-search activities, the involvement of 76-year-old Petrov Boris Bagratovich, known in the criminal environment as Boris “Apakela”, was established and documented in the charges imputed to him. On March 1, an investigator of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region initiated a criminal case against a man under Article 210.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – Occupation of the highest position in the criminal hierarchy, ”a law enforcement source told KP.RU.

At the moment, the accused Boris Petrov is under house arrest. Investigators are continuing to work on his case.

Boris “Apakela” Petrov is one of the oldest and most influential thieves in law in Russia. According to available information, Vladimir Babushkin (Vasya Brilliant), the leader of the criminal world of the USSR at that time, was involved in the so-called coronation of a man.

Boris Petrov was convicted several times under articles on malicious hooliganism, theft and infliction of grievous bodily harm. The man even managed to serve part of his term in the White Swan correctional colony, which is currently used for keeping only those sentenced to life imprisonment. By the 90s, Boris “Apakela” had become one of the most respected and influential thieves in law, catching up with even the leader of the Russian criminal world, Aslan Usoyan, better known as Ded Khasan, in terms of “weight”.

The investigation against Boris Petrov began in April 2019, immediately after Article 210.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – On occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy.
