On February 10, Vladimir Gorbunov was found dead in the premises of Detachment No. 5 after an evening check by other prisoners. The regional Federal Penitentiary Service confirmed the death of the prisoner, noting that medical workers arrived at the scene, but they could not resuscitate the convict.
The preliminary cause of death, according to the Federal Penitentiary Service, is suicide.
The agency also reported that more than 30 prisoners had ended their hunger strike. Four more “so far refuse to eat.”
Vladimir Gorbunov’s girlfriend Alena told Gulagu.net that the day before his death, he complained to her about the pressure exerted. The detainee said that the IK officers responsible for security extorted money from him.
“If you want to live, pay 150 thousand rubles,” his girlfriend recalls Gorbunov’s words in a conversation with Insider. – There are those who paid and stayed to live. They are lucky to have rich parents.”
For four days Gorbunov was not allowed to sleep. According to him, the prisoners “are threatened with rape, some want to dip their heads into the toilet.”
Insider clarifies that the girl of the deceased agreed to talk only on condition of anonymity, since she has two children and she is “afraid for her life.” She does not believe in the official version of death. “He couldn’t (kill himself). His family was waiting here. We made plans with him, ”she explained.
