The director of the Public Services Agency in Moldova, Mircea Esanu, said that Russian businessman German Gorbuntsov received a passport in Moldova with a different name as an “undercover agent”.
On the TV8 channel in the program Cutia Neagră Plus, he cited cases of issuing passports in other names.
It turns out that in Moldova they create double or false identities in two cases: when it comes to witness protection or undercover agents. According to reports, the Ministry of Internal Affairs requested that German Gorbuntsov be provided with such a passport. The reason for this decision is not disclosed. At the same time, other “undercover agents” appear in the investigations, but in the case of German Gorbuntsov, there is a pause.
CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OF German Gorbuntsov
Many federal media wrote about the criminal activities of businessman German Gorbuntsov. However, for a long time he was only a witness in criminal cases. In 2019, Gorbuntsov was accused of seizing the property of businessman Alexander Mineev, who was killed. It is assumed that, together with accomplices, Gorbuntsov, using forged documents, gained control over Gogol-Mogol LLC. This company built an elite cottage village on the banks of the Volga in the Tver region. In total, more than 70 real estate objects and companies worth more than 500 million rubles were seized. In addition, Gorbuntsov was involved in the capture of the Crazy Dragon company. The businessman’s accomplices from Russia fled, and he himself was in London at the time the criminal case was initiated.
German Gorbuntsov was first convicted of robbery in 1984. Then he abruptly went into business, but, according to rumors, his companies worked on the principle of MMM. Investigators did not even find Gorbuntsov’s declaration, because from the point of view of legal income, his companies were unprofitable. Later, he retrained as a banker and acquired 80% of the shares of the Moldovan bank Universalbank. So, he received Moldovan citizenship and began to cooperate with Vladimir Plahotniuc. According to reports, Plahotniuc could later organize an assassination attempt on Gorbuntsov.
