On Tuesday, February 8, it became known about the death of director and famous creator of special effects Douglas Trumbull. He passed away at the age of 79.
His daughter Amy Trumbull wrote about the death of the filmmaker on Facebook.
According to the woman, Trumbull had died the night before.
“My father Douglas Trumbull died last night after a serious two year battle with cancer, a brain tumor and a stroke,” Amy Trumbull wrote.
Douglas Trumbull is known as the director of the films “Silent Escape”, “Brainstorm”, “Back to the Future Trip”. He also created special effects for the films “A Space Odyssey: 2021”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “Blade Runner”. Trumbull was nominated for three Oscars for special effects.
