We are talking about the yachts La Petite Ourse and La Grande Ourse, their total cost is € 70 million. The businessman fell under EU sanctions last week
The French authorities have detained two yachts on the Cote d’Azur, which are allegedly associated with Russian businessman Alexei Kuzmichev. This is reported by sources from Liberation, AFP and Le Figaro.
We are talking about the yacht La Petite Ourse with a length of 17 m and another vessel La Grande Ourse with a length of 26 m. According to Liberation, their cost is estimated at €20 million and €50 million, respectively. Both yachts are registered with Orangerie marine limited in Malta.
On March 15, Kuzmichev was included in the EU sanctions list, which implies the freezing of assets in the jurisdiction of European countries and a ban on economic relations with European companies.
Brussels, justifying the decision on sanctions, called the businessman “one of the most influential persons in Russia”, who “maintains business relations with [президентом Владимиром] Putin.”
After that, Kuzmichev left the ownership of Alfa-Bank, and also left the board of directors of the British investment group LetterOne.
Forbes estimates Kuzmichev’s fortune at $7.8 billion.
After the EU announced sanctions against Russian businessmen, European countries began to report the seizure of property related to them. For example, in early March, the German authorities announced the confiscation of the yacht of Alisher Usmanov, Italy – Andrey Melnichenko.
