The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, denied London’s reports that Russia would allegedly invade Ukraine under a “foreign flag”. According to her, in the Russian department, such statements by British Defense Minister Liz Truss were called disinformation.
The video was posted on Zakharova’s Telegram channel.
“This is feeding with this misinformation [о вторжении “под чужим флагом”] their local journalists and tabloids… First they come up with something that doesn’t exist, like Liz Truss once again, and then they talk about the consequences,” Zakharova said.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Russia has repeatedly spoken about the use of “foreign flags” in Ukraine, but in the context of possible provocations by the West. Zakharova suggested that it was about the fact that the British troops would use their flag. “I don’t know, this is a question for them,” Zakharova said.
Earlier, Truss said that only a full-scale withdrawal of Russian troops from the borders of the neighboring republic could dispel the fears of Western countries regarding a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. She noted that she did not trust the statements of the Russian authorities that Moscow had no plans to attack Ukraine.
