Witness in the People's Deputy's corruption case from Servant of the People did not appear in court
The Higher Anti-Corruption Court fined a witness in the case on accusation of the people's deputy from the Servant of the People faction Anna Kolesnik for false declaration.
The editors of 368.media learned about this by the relevant definition under part 1 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code.
In October, the people's deputy was informed of the suspicion of false declaration. According to investigators, the people's choice did not include in the declaration information about the lease (ownership) of two apartments in Kyiv, shares in non-residential premises in Kharkov and cars. The total value of this property, which was not reflected in the MP's declaration, exceeds UAH 4.4 million. In addition, the MP did not declare the Honda motorcycle she bought in 2017.
The case was recently taken to court. At the meeting scheduled for November 21 and 23, the witness did not appear, in connection with this, the panel of judges raised the question of the validity of the reasons for his absence.
The secretary, regarding the call of this witness, reported that by her telephone message, which is contained in the case file, the witness was informed about the summons. She also repeatedly made phone calls to the witness and the person indicated by the witness as a lawyer.
The witness, referring to being busy at work, ultimately said that he would not arrive in Kyiv, he could not take part in the meeting via videoconference, since he was in Merefa, Kharkiv region
Also, the witness’s summons to summon the court session was sent using a messenger in early November, and a call was also made by means of telephone communication, recorded by screenshots of messages in the messenger provided to the court. The reasons for the non-appearance of the witness are unknown.
However, the witness did not appear at the court hearings at the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, which did not fulfill his procedural duty to come to the court when summoned. The panel of judges stated that the witness, having been duly notified of the date and place of the trial, did not arrive at the court without good reason. He was fined 1.24 thousand hryvnia.
