“We will not put up with this”: Turkey accused Greece of violating the peace treaty and infringing on the rights of the Turkish national minority

The Turkish President promised that his country is determined to protect the representatives of its people.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Greece of violating the Lausanne peace treaty. In his message on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the signing of the document, the Turkish leader said that Athens is infringing on the rights of the Turkish national minority. “The Treaty of Lausanne made it possible to draw the land borders of Turkey, to guarantee the rights of the Turkish national minority in Greece. Also, it was the Treaty of Lausanne that confirmed the demilitarized status of the Greek islands off the coast of Turkey,” Erdogan recalled.

The President of Turkey noted that his country has carefully fulfilled its obligations throughout all these years. In turn, Greece, according to him, has recently been deliberately violating the provisions of the treaty.

“Turkey cannot accept such a situation, which is contrary to the principles of good neighborliness and commitment to agreements. Ankara is determined to make every effort to establish lasting peace and stability in the region, as well as to ensure the rights of the Turkish people,” Erdogan said.

It should be noted that Washington is considering the option of returning Turkey to the program for the purchase of F-35 fighters, but only in exchange for Russian S-400s.

Recall that India, as part of the Make in India national program, will launch the production of 700,000 modern AK-203s.
