Volodin suggested ban “propaganda of non-traditional values”
Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin suggested introduce a ban on “propaganda of non-traditional values” in Russia. He wrote about this Telegram-channel.
According to the politician, after Russia left the Council of Europe, the demands to legalize same-sex marriages are a thing of the past. “Attempts to impose alien values on our society have failed,” he stated.
Volodin also supported the recognition of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity as an official holiday. He stressed that Russians need to strengthen the institution of the family, as well as surround loved ones with care and love.
On June 11, President Vladimir Putin signed a bill adopted by the State Duma on non-compliance with ECtHR judgments. According to Volodin, the European court has become an instrument of political struggle against Russia, and some of its decisions contradicted the country’s Constitution and values, in particular, the requirement to recognize same-sex marriages.
Earlier, Volodin announced a bill to ban signs in foreign languages. Later, deputy Elena Yampolskaya explained that in this way it is planned to protect unprotected elements of trademarks from “anglicism encroachments.”
