TV presenter Savik Shuster banned from entering Ukraine
TV presenter Savik Shuster has been banned from entering Ukraine for three years. The reasons are not reported. The grounds are martial law and the fact that the journalist has the citizenship of another country.
This was reported to the publication “Strana” by sources in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.
The representative of the special services explained that Shuster’s name was included in the “red list” – in the database of border guards, he is marked with a special beacon, which obliges him not to let him into the country at passport control without explaining the reasons. The border service of Ukraine did not provide official comments on this matter.
Savik Shuster, according to him, is outside Ukraine. By his own admission, the journalist, he has Italian citizenship. Recall that in 2021, Shuster criticized the policies of President Vladimir Zelensky on his TV show, accusing him and the head of President Yermak’s office of disrupting the capture of fighters of the Russian PMC Wagner in Belarus a year earlier.
Being one of the brightest Russian-speaking TV journalists of the 1990s and early 2000s, Savik Shuster has not been working in Russia since 2004. In Ukraine, his television career also did not develop without clouds, he experienced several closures of television channels, “excommunications” from the air, and also tried to create his own television channel.
