Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, speaking to the deputies of the State Duma, who approved him for the post of Deputy Prime Minister, announced that by the end of this year, the volume of production and sales of cars in Russia will be reduced by half.
Manturov called the automotive industry the most “vulnerable” industry, RIA Novosti reports.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also told the parliamentarians that at the end of the year, even despite a significant increase in the defense sector, a 6% drop in manufacturing production is predicted.
Recall that today, July 15, deputies of the State Duma gathered for an extraordinary plenary meeting, at which a serious personnel decision was made regarding the composition of the government of the Russian Federation: the deputies approved the candidacy of Denis Manturov for the post of Deputy Prime Minister. He will combine this post with his previous work as Minister of Industry and Trade.
The appointment of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation to the post of Deputy Prime Minister was supported by 394 deputies, one abstained. Not a single parliamentarian voted against.
After the State Duma approved Manturov’s candidacy, the head of state immediately signed a decree on his appointment. In addition, the president signed a decree reducing the number of vice-premiers from 11 to 10.
Denis Manturov has been working in the Russian government since 2007. He took the post of Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in 2012.
The post of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade in the Russian Cabinet of Ministers appeared on July 12 after the President of Russia approved it by his decree. Manturov’s candidacy for this post was put forward by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
