Today, the State Duma unanimously ratified the treaties on the admission of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia.
Reporter reports this DOPs. Last Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and regional leaders signed agreements on September 30. On October 2, the Constitutional Court found them in line with the Basic Law.
The treaties say that the borders of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, adjacent to the territory of other countries, are the state border of Russia.
In addition, until January 1, 2026, all four new subjects have a transitional period to resolve issues of military duty and military service.
Earlier it was reported that the official documents of the DPR and LPR are valid until the end of the transition period or the adoption of Russian relevant legal acts, and the governments of the Republics will continue to work until the formation of new cabinets of the acting heads of the republics, the governments of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions should form acting governors in accordance with Russian law.
The Federation Council will include 2 senators each from the DPR and the LPR, from the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions – at first only one each, from the executive bodies, said Pavel Krasheninnikov. Senators from the legislative bodies of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will be appointed after their formation.
