This was stated by his representative. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that employees of the Russian Embassy in Kiev, whose temporary absence would not critically affect its functioning, would be recommended to leave Ukraine.
The issue of non-essential personnel of the Russian embassy in Kiev leaving Ukraine for a certain time is being actively worked out, TASS writes with reference to a representative of the diplomatic mission.
Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will recommend some employees of the Russian Embassy in Kiev, whose temporary absence will not critically affect its functioning, to leave Ukraine. Speaking about this, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, stressed that such a decision was made in connection with the actions of the embassies of Western countries, which announced the evacuation of some of their diplomats.
Last month, The New York Times, citing US and Ukrainian officials, reported that family members of Russian diplomatic staff left Ukraine earlier this year. As a high-ranking official of the Ukrainian special services told the publication on condition of anonymity, on January 5, 18 people were taken out of Ukraine on buses, for the most part – the spouses and children of Russian diplomats. A few days later, about 30 people left the Russian embassy in Kiev and the consulate in Lvov. The interlocutors of the newspaper noted that until the last moment the American authorities were not aware of Russia’s plans to evacuate members of the families of diplomats from Ukraine. This move came as a surprise to them.
