Law enforcement officers detained the rector of the Dagestan State Technical University (DSTU) for fraud in the amount of millions of rubles and official forgery.
This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for Dagestan.
“The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Dagestan charged the rector of the Dagestan State Technical University with committing crimes under part 4 of article 159 (“Fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale”) and part 2 of article 292 (“Official forgery”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “, — said the source.
Currently, the issue of choosing the accused a measure of restraint in the form of detention is being decided. At the place of residence, registration and in the office of the detainee, law enforcement officers conducted searches.
According to investigators, in 2015-2018, the accused as part of an organized criminal group, which included university officials, transferred money from the university scholarship account to the settlement accounts of trusted persons, and then cashed them out. In addition, it became known that members of the group forged signatures in payrolls for receiving salaries and bonuses and received cash from their personal account without posting it to the cash desk of the educational institution.
The department of the Investigative Committee for the region added that for all the time the attackers stole the funds allocated to the university from the federal budget in the amount of more than 90 million rubles.
